5 stars: - It appears to work. With my 4.04 OS even. Text files don't have to have .txt extension! And I can control the CR/LF line termination on saving! (Wow.) But I sure wish I knew what happened when I tapped on that "+1" button with the "11K" beside it.
2 stars: - Free version doesn't support writing to SD card, otherwise a 5 star app for a free notepad editor (.txt with UTF-8 encoding)

5 stars: - With the Dropbox add-on you can have universally available text and notes on demand. Nicely customizable interface. I tried Evernote just didn't like it. I find this much more user-friendly and practical.
