3 stars: When the app works, it's awesome. Will work 100% of the time for weeks, then, out of the blue, without changing anything on my phone, it will just decide it won't load up when plugging in the USB cable. The only way to get it to re-associate with the car's HUD has been to delete cache, delete data, uninstall, reinstall, then setting up anew. It's stuff like this that makes one almost jump to Apple Car Play. Work the bugs out, Google.
4 stars: Using Android auto is convenient, but nowhere near perfect. I understand the reasoning with not making it 1-to-1 with your phone, but I don't understand not trying to mimic your phone as closely as possible. That being said navigation is great. Playing to the screen is amazing. This is particularly fantastic, as I learned about this during a vacation to Germany. Many high hopes for the future of Android Auto.
5 stars: Android Auto is a great app. It takes a little time to get set up depending on your vehicle's equipment. The music fidelity is good and I like the Waze and Google Maps overlay. (Update - Sept 2019) The new update has greatly improved the performance of the software. The freeze-ups and unstable connection seems to be fixed and the fresh look of the interface is much easier to use.
