4 stars: I still hate the new interface, but in all fairness to the content, it's a good dictionary. It's nice to have Collins's IPA transcription for words rather than the accented Latin characters common in dictionaries from the States. Definitions in the CED tend toward concision over detail, which I find helpful in many cases. The interface—while cluttered and bright (I'd love a night mode)—is quite useable once you're past the welcome screen. The interface in this dictionary is identical to that of the American Heritage Dictionary. The same developer makes both, and they simply load a different database into the same skin for these two dictionaries' separate apps. A nice feature of both the CED and AHD is the ability to export the definition to Anki flashcards, including the IPA transcription, a big help to EFL learners.
