3 stars: It works perfectly well for my purposes, that is, texting. However, if they are restricting 'Messenger without Facebook' accounts so that we don't have rooms or can't use polls, there should at least be an option to create a Facebook account from the Messenger account (so we don't lose prior texts and group chats), or merge with a Facebook account, so that we can use those features. It would also lessen duplicate Messenger accounts.
3 stars: App is working well overall, but, since the most recent update, I'm unable to view the active status of other users if mine is turned off...I prefer keeping mine off, as my use is minimal, although it was useful for interaction with a select few individuals, without having to see a bunch of people online with whom I never communicate...If they're sharing their active status, let it be known to all.
3 stars: It's okay. I absolutely hate the mute option though: if you select mute on a particular conversation, you have to then go back into the conversation to make sure it was muted. Therefore, muting a conversation from the notification alone is useless. Also, I don't need to hear a ding for every single message that comes through on a particular conversation. I'll be fine with one ding, then let the rest just come up as unread messages.
