5 stars: The only app that can let older Android's connect to local servers without redirecting Google dns on the network level. Does a great job, and adds for the free version aren't particularly annoying.
4 stars: Nice idea but doesn't seem to work on Pixel 6. Added the hosts, turned on the hosts switch, started with the Start button. Unable to ping by hostname. Still able to ping by IP. Would be great if it worked on this device.
4 stars: I primarily wanted this to block youtube ads. I'm not sure if this is just not possible without root, or if it is not blocking them due to hosts settings not being downloaded and applied. Help would be appreciated. Thanks! EDIT: I found a host file online that has the proper entries to block YouTube ads. I applied that, and I still get YouTube ads.
2 stars: It closes itself every so often and it does not have the option to always connect to the VPN. A perfect alternative to this app is DNS66 but it does not allow you to set up a password
