3 stars: Definitely needs some work, the app sometimes is slow and freezes and it's delayed and doesn't always give me a notification. My neighbor hit my car and I didn't get a notification right away I got it 1 min later and by the time I saw it was too late to confront them! I had to wait until they came back 2 weeks later from vacation...
3 stars: The Nest is not very smart. Can't tell when I'm at home or away. I have to adjust the temperature manually every morning and evening. Often throughout the day when it things I'm not home. It hasn't learned anything in over a year of having it. It is easy to adjust and manually create schedules. Even if it doesn't always follow the schedule. Integration with Google assistant works well.
3 stars: It is difficult to prevent the app from doing things you don't want it to do. For example, it kept switching to eco mode and I did not want that. Eventually discovered that the setting to turn that off is not on the mobile app but you have to sign in to desktop to turn it off. Sulfur be so hard to our poor of these things.
4 stars: For the first time I had to turn power off to furnace which also turned power off to thermostat to reboot thermostat as I lost communication to thermostat through app. Working again, so far. The only problem I have had since is replacing the switch which feeds power to furnace. Perhaps the first problem was a foreboding of the real problem. The switch itself!
