4 stars: I prefer this legacy app to the new Economist app because, once downloaded, I can read the content without pause and without an internet connection. Last night, the new app froze when I tried to use it while waiting for my daughter to find me after skiing. I am annoyed with its turning to black and white. Is that deliberate to encourage us to move to the new app? I hope that gets fixed.
5 stars: (Edited) bumped to 5, not because the app is great, but because I don't want it to go away before fatal flaws in new app are resolved. excellent content and i love the audio, but have two feature requests a) sleep timer or configurable end-of-article policy for audio b) store on sd card or ability to selectively delete large audio downloads
3 stars: Very long-time TE subscriber. I appreciate the app and its visual design. Recent update to audio features is visually fine, but functionally garbage. Audio will not play in background. Playlist resets everytime app comes to foreground or is opened (i.e. if one has listened to half of material, the list cursor resets to world this week politics. So frustrating, hopefully an update available shortly.
