It has no built-in function to create new flash cards, but it is easy to do it. Key features: 1) you choose what to learn by making your own personalized flash cards; 2) you can provide time limit to each flash card individually; 3) you can split cards by categories and choose which of them you would like to learn; 4) you can use 3 modes for learning: 4.1) Sequential: all cards will be displayed 1 time in the same sequence as they are defined in deck files. Benefits: - improve learning new cards: you can organize cards in file in specific order which helps you to learn new cards; - edit cards on screen: if you just created new file with cards you might want to improve formatting, wording etc. Having cards displayed only once simplifies this process. 4.2) Shuffle Plus: display cards in random order. Cards will be shown (number of correct answers) - (number of wrong answers) times, but not less than 1 time. This mode might be used as primary after initial learning by using Sequential mode. 4.3) Hardest X: select up to X cards from selected decks with highest values of (number of correct answers) - (number of wrong answers) and show them once. Sometimes you might not have enough time to go through all cards from your decks. In this case it will allow you to concentrate your learning process just on hardest cards to learn.
You can edit flash card and time limit in application. Just press "Show Answer" in learning mode, tap on answer text, edit it and press Save button. You can switch between editing question/answer by pressing Question or Answer button. Note: nothing will be saved if you will not press Save button.
If you switch to other application time limit will reset. This is done on purpose, as distraction usually leads to spending additional time to recall.
Application automatically saves number of correct/wrong answers for each card in your deck files when statistics page is shown, which allows you to use Shuffle Plus and Hardest X modes. Please note that for fresh decks you will have no statistics yet, that's why Hardest X mode will not be able to select hardest cards for you.
You choose what you would like to learn, that's why you create your own flash cards by yourself. Application is not supplied with any deck files. Please find guide how to create deck files below: 1) It's easier to create deck files on computer, copy them to your device and use Sequential mode to adjust how they look on the screen by using built-in edit cards function. You can use any text editor on your computer or mobile device. 2) create new text file in your decks folder, let's say sampleDeck.deck 3) add cards to text file. Each line represents 1 card.
Line format is: id|Max time to answer|Number of correct answers|Number of wrong answers|Question|Answer
Description of fields: 4.1) id: integer, which represent potentially unique card id. It may help you to find right card if you would like to edit it later after you finish learning process, as it is displayed in learning mode. Should be >= 1. 4.2) Max time to answer: integer, time limit for this card to answer in seconds. Should be >= 5. 4.3) Number of correct answers, Number of wrong answers: updated by application automatically, you probably want them = 0 for brand new cards. 4.4) Question: text of question 4.5) Answer: text of answer
In question and answer fields you can have multiple lines, for example: 1|10|0|0|Name inner Solar System planets|- Earth¦- Venus¦- Mercury¦- Mars
Which will show question and answer as follows:
Name inner Solar System planets
- Earth - Venus - Mercury - Mars
Example of sampleDeck.deck file content: 1|10|0|0|Question 1|Answer 1 2|10|0|0|Question 2|Answer 2
You can skip adding line breaks and just add them in application itself.
