3 stars: Messages is passable. While I'm choosing to use it because it links to my Chromebook, it definitely lacks features. You can't schedule a text or dictate which gallery opens when you go to choose a pic to send somebody. RCS isn't encrypted. Swiping left or right on conversations only archives (I want it to auto dial the contact). There's a lot of room for improvement.
3 stars: The app works well, most of the time. The problem is that some messages are delivered and some are not or get delivered with serious time delays. This can happen within a thread where parts of the conversation get delivered late and only by scrolling back do you see them. I switched back in hopes the new updates would resolve this, but it happened again yesterday.
3 stars: I enjoy the app. I wish it wouldn't compress images and videos being sent to and from iOS devices. Most of the users in my family are iOS users, and we connect by sending and receiving images and videos. However, when they or I receive images or videos from someone using a different platform, the quality of images and videos are not original, which is undesirable for users of this app.
3 stars: App is a good messaging app however has a ways to go to be the best that a product from Google should be. It's great Google is pushing the RCS standard and carriers should get on board so we have a universal replacement for SMS. Google needs to add more features like Scheduled Messages and others that people use in other app...
