4 stars: I have been using google pay since 2017, when it was called 'andriod pay', and it hasnt failed me. I even have all my loyalty cards added on there too, so less to carry in my purse. In a matter of urgency, I am able to walk out with my phone only and not worry about my purse. Happened a few times already!!! Perhaps my review may be different once I have to enter new card details, but thats not until spring 2020.
3 stars: It's pretty useful when it works, but for some reason, even after I have already unlocked my phone and then tap it to an NFC reader, it tells me to unlock my phone and tap it again (which then brings up a thumbprint prompt), which sometimes has a hard time registering for the second time. I wonder if it's clashing with some security setting on my phone.
3 stars: The app worked just fine until I had to update my credit card details after the previous one expired. The new card was continually rejected as the app had not contacted my bank to confirm the new details. My bank advised me to delete the app which wasn't possible so I removed all updates and re entered my card details. That finally worked.
3 stars: Google Pay is just as fast and convenient as other fruit-based payment systems but it lacks any sort of biometric security measures which by nature makes it a bit less secure than its rival. If a thief stole my phone they could still use Google Pay even without unlocking the device. Of I used an iPhone said thief would have to slice off...
