4 stars: It's a good messaging app with certain small problems that might bug you if you use sms often. - The search is not very good. The result we get when searching contacts are actually poor. I can't search by the 2nd part of first name or by last name which is kind of a basic search feature we expect, but not present. - A select all option is not available for multiple threads, which is also kind of a basic feature not there in this app.
5 stars: i switched to Messages because Hangouts was being phased out. I was happy with Hangouts. Functionally, I don't see any difference between Hangouts and Messages although I understand there are some technical reasons for the switch. Maybe it's buried in the articles, but Google could have done a better job of explaining why Messages is replacing Hangouts.
5 stars: One of the best message apps. I've downloaded and tried a few. This app let's you search messages, and it automatically saves locations people text you, but not in a creepy way, so you never have to ask for the same address twice. Like my GF is always asking for my work address and this makes it easy to find again.
