5 stars: Not pleased that the sliding zoom option has been removed. Knowing that option was available along with astrophotography were huge selling points for me. Edit: After doing a little more research into the update and trying various gestures (after finding time to do so), I discovered that if you use the pinching gesture on your phone the slide zoom appears. Therefore, I retract my initial one star review and put forth a five stars.
4 stars: Great app but not perfect. The flash over-exposure is still a problem on my Pixel XL with version 6.2.031. This has been the case since the new interface was introduced a few months ago. The flash works fine if I let the camera do autofocus without touching the screen. As soon as I tap the screen to focus on something close the exposure gets messed up and I get a picture of almost pure white. I went back to 5.3.015 and all is fine.
4 stars: The Google camera is generally good on my Pixel 2 XL. However, it is evident that there is an annoying bug introduced not long ago. Sometimes if I use double push of power button to bring up camera and use volume button to take a picture, the camera would immediately quit and the phone shows the lock screen. Of course nothing is captured. This happens at a low frequency but annoying enough.
3 stars: Camera has consistently been inconsistent since I got it. It's ironic that it has the best quality camera in terms of pixels, lighting, features etc. and I am unable to access that quality...
