3 stars: A solid news aggregator. Smart View is a very good feature (wish I could set it as the default view). Setting up alerts for the morning, midday, and evening is also useful. Not a fan of the latest update that puts images in the notification panel. Now I can't read the full headline before choosing to open the app. This makes it feel more like a tabloid generator than a news aggregator.
4 stars: I like the app, and it works well almost all of the time on my devices (samsungs). I wish I could select news sources that I DON'T want to show up on my list- like those that only display a paragraph or 2 and then want me to buy a subscription to see the rest. I can't afford to buy 20 news-source subscriptions, so I don't even want their stories on my list.
5 stars: Really good app for local and state news which is what I was looking for. Has news that leans a bit to the left, but not as one-sided as other apps that didnt last for me. This app shows what came in since last time I had my phone on, then it easy ti select the news I want to see more about. Doesnt seem to interfere with my phone use at all. Lot quicker than having to watch an hour or more of local news when I get home.
5 stars: 5/6/20-Restoring stars. Behavior seems normal again. I had taken two stars off because an update in March or April reduced my ability to pick Smart views. I still see large animated ads, and when I do, I quit the app or leave the article when it is excessive. I stopped using CNN...
