3 stars: Works well unless, like me, you want to use your old phone both as a baby unit and a white noise machine - white noise (played via a different app) is muted when devices are connected. Obviously this is not ideal as I have to intermittently connect to the child unit just to check on him, then disconnect so the white noise plays again. Unfortunately I had already paid for the full version before discovering this or I would have tried another app instead.
4 stars: Decent app. Fairly easy to use. The only issue I had was that it seems to disable video recording in all other apps. When I uninstalled Annie my phone's camera could video record again. It's a pain to have to uninstall every time I want to record a video.
5 stars: I've been using the (paid version) app for a week with an android phone and an iPhone and it has worked very well. We have been using it over 4g with only a medium strength connection and on the few occasions that it has lost connection it has notified us. Before leaving baby unattended for the first time, you should check the sensitivity setting (also do an experiment) and the notification settings of both phones. You don't want the phone to wake baby up with Facebook notifications! Overall, very happy. I can't think of improvements.
