3 stars: Is an amazing app with a ton of educational content, but the voice recording is terrible and causes the lessons to slow down or outright stop because it won't pick up what you are saying. As I have used several other language apps like Duolingo and never once had a problem with the speaker picking up what I was saying this is very disappointing. If fixed its an easy 5 star that I would recommend to anyone.
5 stars: Babbel uses an accessible approach to language learning, but goes beyond other apps by incorporating a good grounding in areas like grammar, which helps ensure you understand the concepts rather than just learning them by rote. I also appreciate the inclusion of both literal and contextual translations for common phrases.
4 stars: The web interface is a lot friendlier especially for the vocal exercises. I am regularly frustrated with the mobile for cutting me off early, or one particularly painful time where it had me just say English names but told me I didn't pronounce \
3 stars: After a year and a half I have found free apps that I find more effective. The listening software for reciting words is inconsistent. I suggest trying other apps first, the key is to start the habit, the tools only help if you're committed. Not really worth the price in my opinion
