4 stars: I'm normally a huge, devoted fan of everything Google and discovering this app and the things we can do to protect our children was a welcomed discovery. Unfortunately, there is a complaint. Upon installing the app, I was able to set everything up the way we wanted except adding my wife to the family group. I had to go online and sign into the website to do that. Otherwise, not at all displeased with anything else.
3 stars: Not able to customize what I want to install. I want to install Wear OS on my child's device but the family link, while secure, does not let me do this. I also tried to work with support but did not help. I know/think that Wear OS is safe but can't install because of Family Link. Why Google?
5 stars: I think it works great. it does what I need it to do. I just use it to monitor GPS and monitor what apps are being used and for how long. I might be using screen time soon but maube not. But I can see how parents can lock down kids phones hard but you dont have too. choose your settings wisely.
4 stars: Nightmare to setup on Android 6 or earlier. We ended up scraping the cheap chinese phones we bought for christmas as a result of this issue. Works great on modern divices, but wont let us let our kids install youtube, unsure if that is a plus or minus. Wish this existed when my wife and i first got phones, because we double paid for a lot of apps that we can now share.
