3 stars: Good app but it still needs work. This is the closest app to iMessages that I have used. There are a ton of great features. However, an iPhone user would never have to go through the issues that this app presents! One of my biggest gripes is the status will disconnect from time to time. Why, you may ask? Who knows. 3 stars: Please, for the love of all things, give me the option to turn off the archive swipe action. It is so irritating to have my messages just disappear into another folder because I accidentally swiped. And themes. Give me themes. Let me match the theme to my phone. Or at least something close to what the Gboard has. Otherwise a wonderful experience.
3 stars: Recently the font changed in the messages app and it no longer matches my phone's font setting and I cannot find a way to fix it. I don't recall having an update at the time either. I don't know what triggered it but it is driving me crazy. Also sometimes messages won't send or recieve until I restart the phone, which I thought was a carrier issue but now I'm wondering if it's the app instead.
