5 stars: Caution... open your text messages slowly when you first engage the app. There is a delayed ad that will appear at the top and you're very likely to end up clicking on the ad when you didn't intend to do so. Other than that seems to be a reliable program. You can move the ads to the bottom of the screen... I didn't realize that when I wrote the original post.

4 stars: Mostly I love it. But whether it's the new phone (Galaxy s21 ultra) or recent Android update, MMS now almost always (and SMS sometimes) are failing to send on the first try especially if I navigate away from the app after sending. Problem is not my reception. Annoying, but for the moment not annoying enough to switch; this has been stable and easier to use than the native app for ages before this.
5 stars: Textra is my go to app for messaging. Its look is customizable and also provides flexible user options.. I've been using be it for years and am still discovering features. I'm very impressed that Textra is frequently updated with both new features and security updates. I have had no issues of instability and I feel that this is a very robust and user friendly app.
