5 stars: Unbelievably useful app. For example it'll instantly tell you it's a house finch and not a purple finch. I was holding it to listen to an oriole and a pair of Canada geese flew over and one of them just made one little tiny honk, and the program identified both the Oriole and the geese!
5 stars: 20 seconds in and identified a collared dove perfectly. Amazing. So easy to use, and saved the call for later. I love it. Also the guide to birds in my area, wow, just wow. Not been so excited by an app since Waze first came out.
5 stars: Spent so much time trying to match a recorded song to the available recordings on Merlin without much confidence. Immediately got a matching result with my first attempt using BirdNET! This is a potential game changer for both casual birding and proper surveying.

5 stars: A remarkable app! In the middle of May, I was in an area on Lake Ontario that gets a great number of migratory birds and is also home to many who stay for the summer. There was a lot of birdsong, but the app was almost always able to identify the one, two or even three dominant songs. And this morning, it picked up a rather faint Swainson's Thrush song (which I'd never heard) and identified it right away. I love this very smart app!
