4 stars: Great App So Far The only request I have is that an example of bird sound is provided when a species of bird is identified by the app, as often there are multiple bird songs in one area and it would be nice to learn which song belongs to which species. I feel this would be especially useful for a novice who is keen to learn, such as myself.
5 stars: I work as a bird bioacoustic technician, and I can honestly say that I think this app with put me out of a job! BirdNET has been accurate every single time I've used it. It even distinguishes instances where a mockingbird is mimicking another species. I totally nerd out each time it builds a spectrogram in real time. If this app made it easy to browse for a species not normally found in your area, it would be perfect!
5 stars: This is so cool!! This is the kind of technology I expect in the 21st century. It turns my phone into a tricorder. I didn't realize, not only does it identify the bird but it also locates the exact spot where it was observed, and adds the data to the bird count database. Using it is easy and fun too. The 3 second delay while the bird song is being analyzed is suspenseful. I recommend it on a few levels.
4 stars: I love this app! I only gave it 4 stars because there are a few things they could do to make it more user friendly; like being able to go back to listen to you're recording, or even better, being able to mark a spot while recording, so you can go back to it after you're done reco...
